ydoconv is a free document converter that runs entirely in your browser.
Your files are never uploaded to a server — privacy by design, not as an afterthought.
Built for users with confidential documents, offline-like workflows, and large files that server-side tools often reject.
Heavy work runs in a Web Worker. Large ZIP-based formats (DOCX, EPUB, XLSX) use OPFS streaming to stay within browser memory limits.
Text-focused pipeline: no OCR for scanned PDFs, no legacy .doc support yet, and formatting loss is expected. Requires a modern browser with Web Workers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari 16+).
We use Yandex Metrika for anonymous visit statistics only — file contents are never sent.
FAQ
Are my files sent to a server?
No. Conversion runs entirely in your browser; files never leave your device.
What formats are supported?
Supported formats: TXT, PDF, DOCX, RTF, ODT, CSV, JSON, FB2, EPUB, XLSX, HTML, MD. Upload a file above — the converter detects the source format and shows compatible targets.
Why does the result differ from the original?
The converter works with content (text, tables), not layout. Styles, columns, and complex formatting may be lost.
Scanned PDF (image) doesn't convert — why?
There is no OCR. You need a PDF with a selectable text layer. OCR support is on our roadmap.
Is there a file size limit?
Limited by browser memory and OPFS. Large files work better in Chrome and Edge; on mobile devices, use smaller files when possible.
Which browsers are supported?
Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari 16+. Web Workers are required; OPFS is needed for large DOCX, EPUB, and XLSX files. Internet Explorer and outdated browsers are not supported.
Can I convert multiple files at once?
Yes. Select several files, choose one output format, and download all results in a single ZIP after conversion.
