ydoconv is built so that document conversion stays on your device. We do not run a conversion server and we do not store the files you convert.
- Files you select and converted output are processed in your browser — not uploaded to us for conversion.
- We do not maintain user accounts or a conversion database.
- Analytics receives visit statistics only — not file contents or converted output.
- Feedback, attachments, and optional session logs are sent only when you submit the form.
Overview
ydoconv (ydoconv.site) is a client-side document converter operated as a static website. This policy explains what data is processed when you use the site.
When you convert a document, the file stays on your device. The sections below describe the limited exceptions: browser storage, cookies, analytics, and optional feedback.
What we do not collect
During normal conversion we do not receive:
- File contents or converted output.
- A persistent profile linked to your documents.
- Payment or sign-in data — the service does not require an account.
Documents you convert
Files you select are processed entirely in your browser using a Web Worker. They are not sent to our servers for conversion.
For large ZIP-based formats (DOCX, EPUB, XLSX), temporary data may be stored in OPFS (Origin Private File System) inside your browser to stay within memory limits. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to us.
Security
The public site is served over HTTPS. Conversion logic runs locally in your browser; we do not operate a backend that receives your documents for processing.
Security headers and Content Security Policy (where supported by hosting) limit which scripts can run on the site. See our architecture notes for current hosting limitations.
Data stored locally in your browser
Small amounts of technical data may remain on your device:
- localStorage — UI preferences, for example the batch auto-download setting.
- sessionStorage — optional feedback session logs (pages visited, conversion steps, formats, file sizes, file names, errors). Logs never include file contents. They are cleared when you close the tab or after you submit feedback.
Cookies
We set one first-party cookie when you choose a language: NEXT_LOCALE (max-age 1 year, SameSite=Lax, path=/). It stores your language preference only.
Yandex Metrika may set its own cookies (for example _ym_uid, _ym_d) to distinguish visits and measure traffic. These cookies are managed by Yandex; see Yandex Metrika documentation for details.
We do not use cookies to track converted file contents.
Analytics
In production we use Yandex Metrika for anonymous visit statistics (pages viewed, conversion funnel goals). Metrika does not receive file contents or converted output.
We also load Vercel Analytics in production for aggregate performance metrics (page loads, Web Vitals). It does not receive your files.
Feedback form
If you submit feedback, we receive your rating, comment, optional attachment (up to 3 MB), and — if you opt in — session activity logs and browser/device info over HTTPS.
Optional session logs may include file names and sizes from your visit, but never file contents. Your IP address is recorded by the server when the message is delivered. Do not attach confidential documents. Feedback is optional and separate from conversion.
Third-party services and hosting
Static site files (HTML, JavaScript, fonts, pdf.js) are hosted on Yandex Cloud Object Storage and served to your browser from ydoconv.site.
Yandex Metrika scripts load from Yandex domains. The feedback endpoint (Yandex Cloud Function or similar) receives data only when you explicitly submit the feedback form.
Contact
Questions about this policy or your data: info@ydoconv.site. We aim to respond within a reasonable time.
You may stop optional analytics by using browser blocking tools or privacy extensions. Feedback is never required to use the converter.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page will change when we do.
Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
