Converting from TXT

Plain text sources (.txt, .log) are read as UTF-8 when possible. Notes, logs, subtitles, and code snippets convert cleanly when the target format supports text.

Output as MD

Headings and paragraphs are written as Markdown text. Complex layout from PDF or Word will not map to advanced MD features.

All conversion runs locally in your browser via Web Workers. Your files are not sent to any server, which makes ydoconv suitable for confidential documents, drafts, and large batches.

Are my files sent to a server?

No. Conversion runs entirely in your browser; files never leave your device.

What formats are supported?

Supported formats: TXT, PDF, DOCX, RTF, ODT, CSV, JSON, FB2, EPUB, XLSX, HTML, MD. Upload a file above — the converter detects the source format and shows compatible targets.

Why does the result differ from the original?

The converter works with content (text, tables), not layout. Styles, columns, and complex formatting may be lost.

Scanned PDF (image) doesn't convert — why?

There is no OCR. You need a PDF with a selectable text layer. OCR support is on our roadmap.

Is there a file size limit?

Limited by browser memory and OPFS. Large files work better in Chrome and Edge; on mobile devices, use smaller files when possible.

Which browsers are supported?

Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari 16+. Web Workers are required; OPFS is needed for large DOCX, EPUB, and XLSX files. Internet Explorer and outdated browsers are not supported.

Can I convert multiple files at once?

Yes. Select several files, choose one output format, and download all results in a single ZIP after conversion.
